And there it goes...

I got down at this relatively small railway station, in a place named Surathkal, with my dad. We had quite a bit of baggage on us and were having a tough time moving around with it. Not a single auto-rickshaw was in sight thanks to the All India Bundh that day (for some strange reason)... We somehow managed to catch a vehicle and got to the college! After living in IISc for 7 years, the campus did not quite amuse me, you'd be lucky to sight a tree there :P! Then came the hostel, to my surpirise it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be... All the memories are still so fresh that it seems like it happened only a few weeks back! It was last july that I had entered this college, but it doesnt seem that way!

A year has passed and loads of things have come along. Many changed who I am and I changed a few others (probably!)...

Thanks to my roommates, who made my first year's stay an awesome one! For all the time I spent on their laptops! All the bets that we had about our grades and keeping track of who had to treat whom (though no one treated in the end! Shailesh you got to pay!). The times when we cursed our teachers cause we were bored! The 'zahereeley' alarm tone, cant really sleep with that song playing out loud(i dont know how Lui did it!)... But most importantly I can proudly say that I was the roommate of a CET rank 2... how many are as 'previlaged' as I was, eh? I dont know how much he inspired us to study, but surely we changed him by the end of the year; which was very obvious from the night outs.... for gaming by a person who never even played a single game!

My class was surely the most nerdiest of all, not at all happy to admit that(cause that screws up my grades), none the less it was the best class ever. Well the unity shown by the class was really wonderful; I never thought that people from differnet places could gel in together so well in such a short time. I had experiences of both the sides of the class; the front row and the back bench! Must say that the are totally different worlds. While the ones in the front row doesnt notice anything but the books, the last row notices everything but the books! I'll surely miss all the hooting and booing in class in the coming years (cause I dont really expect that in the ECE class, which is 98% nerds!).

College was a real change from school. Mainly you have to cope with the terrible mess food. In one year I have seen as much potato as a potato farmer would see! One thing that I have improved after staying in the hostel is my saturation level for disgust! In the days when we had water shortage... well I dont think i need to go on, you'll probably figure it out(if you want a hint: bathrooms)! Tough times, we had to run 200 m just to brush! The electricity was a headache too. It seemed like a duel between the water supply and the power; if one was present the other was not available! Another thing that I learnt was that washing clothes is a real pain! It is so hard to get down and wash those stains of your dirty socks, phew! I dont know how my mom does it!

In all, time was a wonderful ice candy. It melted so fast that I couldnt relish every single drop of it! There are moments I want to re-live and so much I wanted to say. But I am happy that you cannot time travel and change things! Thats what makes life that much more interesting! I have the next three months in my hands, and unlike some people(:P) I have no clue what to do with it! Until the next time I get bored, I take leave!

PS: I am going to miss the beach!

'The month of' March

I actually dont remember much of what happened in march, long time you see... and I am having memory problems lately! :P... This month was a major drag, especially after the awesome fun we had in during incident.

We had our results of mid sems coming out and they surely did not help us to lighten the mood either. After a pathetic performance when I was thinking nothing could go worse that this, another major problem stared all the hostelites in their face. The water shortage had started. The bathrooms were back to the worst condition you could find anywhere. After a week of no water we got so pissed off with the authorities that we decided to have a non-violent protest, more of a discussion kind of approach. Well, the same day we had water in our blocks, but guess what... the next day again the taps were as dry as in the sahara desert.

It was time to choose our hostel blocks for the next year, and I swear I have never seen as much politics in my life as that was going on among groups over here. Each party trying to put their people ahead, get good room for themselves. All the possible tactics used in actual politics were being used, alliances were being formed, promises were being made and what not... Towards the end of the month we had our class representatives (CR) elections, and this was the time the worst games were played. Influencing people, back stabbing, false promises, alliances, all the screwed plots you could ever think of surfaced. I never thought all that went into making of a college... Must surely be one of the worst day in the college. But what can you say, everything has its one shares of good and bad (and that includes me as well!)...
