'The month of' January

This is going to be something new that I plan to start ('The month of' series), so that I can laugh about all the stupid stuff that had passed by.

Firstly I started the month with a meagre amount of cash in my pocket, just Rs 400. Who on earth can survive in NITK for a month with just that much amount of money, when every alternate day one has to pay FC a visit. This was all thanks to the spending spree in the first three days of the 'new year'. The new year party and the release of Ghajini at the same time burnt a huge hole in my pocket. I had to drag on with 400 bucks for another 27 days, which meant no frequent darshans to amul or nescafe or nc. Well, but somehow I was able to survive the month, probably because I was assured a mess change the next month.

Then comes our prof., Udupa. Supposed to be our mechanical teacher but has proved to be more of a MLC teacher( he probably is even better than N N Das)! To begin with, he is the only teacher I have ever seen come running into the class, so much for being on time(though he never is). Then is his attendance routine where he loves replacing and leaving out syllables from a persons name, for instance Priyanka is Priyank in his class(that changes the gender itself) and Sabnis becomes Sabsin...whatever! Once he settles down and opens his book ( a teacher with a book!), I dont know what gets into him he starts narrating stories, which he calls his 'fundas', that even the KG kids wont accept for bed time stories. I plan to write a whole post about his 'fundas'. When he is done with his preaching he relaises that half the class is over, thus he starts teaching with his amazing over use of 'might you have seen'. And before he figures out what the guide says and tries explaing to us, the class is over.
We also had our mechanical test, and it was conveniently held in his period. Not only did he give a question in the paper that he hadn't taught us, he also started teaching us the idea behind that problem and gave us all the formulae that had to be used in it(and we sat there bulbing)!

Another person worth mentioning is our computer teacher, Reshma. A stark contrast to the 'funda' man, she takes her own sweet time to come to the class, and in her terms 'own sweet time' would be anything around 15 to 30 mins (thats all!). Where is she during the first half an hour of the class? FC... It looks like she visits the FC guy after (and before) every class! In class not one day has passed when she does not ask the last benchers to answer her seemingly 'tought' questions; and I dont know why but she shows special interest in people wearing the yellow shirt!

Do you like physics? No? Oh, you better do, cause it is the most 'exciting' stuff ever! The person I am referring to would be our physigc prof., GRU. Nobody can escape his hawk eye vision. It appears like he is completely engrossed in what he is doing and suddenly he catches some), and tells him..."...if this is not going to excite you, what will?...".
He surely doesnt realise that boys have a lot more things other than physics that excite them!

A Year that wasn't...

Who in the beginning of '08 would have thought that I would be typing this blog sitting in one of the rooms in the hostel of NITK? Afterall I was some dumb chap sitting at home doing everything but studying! Well, the world has its own ways...

It was just another ordinary year, but with one tiny difference. I had these huge exams which I had do atleast decently in order to get into a good college and 'put my life into some reasonable path'. The year began with huge number of hours being spent under the studying lamp (like never before).Everyone was busy cracking the 'toughest' problems, be it in physics, chemistry or their 'life' problems... Fastforward -- March '08... The board exams are done and everyone was pulling up their pants for the dash of their lives. The exams kicked of in April with the 'great one', IIT leading the group. Finally one by one they took their toll... a few fell and a few survived, knocking down every pin in their way. Jumping to June '08 -- The results are out and there were numerous emotions to see on faces, but it appeared I had managed to survive the AIEEE. Quite happy about it, but was uncertain what course to choose, or would I be in a position to choose! Did a bit of homework and research and decided to take up either electronics or mechanical be it in surathkal( withe private beach) or trichy( the scorching town). It was July 4 -- the day of my counselling, fingers crossed i fill up my form, hoping that I would get ece in surathkal. The next day -- It was quite overwhelming, I had somehow got the seat, thanks to a few who made it through the AIR. But the story was not all joy, friends of mine were not able to make it through the AIEEE, so they had to choose a college in b'lore. And the worst part was that the college life was to start in 10 days. The packing started of in full 'josh' and I headed to the seaside town. The first class of college... and I don't remember a thing about it. At first I wasn't too optimistic about the hostel life, but you never know until you experience it yourself. I love this place; awesome sleep, great fun and wonderful friends. But, a well known fact, the mess food! :X ... Somehow scraped throught the first sem, with subjects like EG and Electrical, it was quite a tough job man!

Though there were 'troublesome' times the first sem flew by, and I was back in b'lore. And I have no clue why but I was so bored there that I did not mind staying in the hostel and braving the food, water shortage and the power cuts! There was always onething that has me all proud of NITK; the PRIVATE beach.

Well, we haven't actually gone to the private beach many time, 'cause of the wierd timings they have for that place. We usually go to the other part of the beach and trust me its much better than the one with the college sign over it. The sunset is the most beautiful of all the scenes over there! (I pity the guys who aren't in this place).

*That would be Sai's siluohette in front of the gorgeous sunset*

The best pass time in this place is I guess is being glued to a comp, either watching a movie, a sitcom or playing some game. So the rooms with the comps used to be like hubs and gaming parlour where the crowd of two or three rooms used to gather in one room.

Probably the most happening year yet for me, and I loved every bit of it!
